Family pictures

Back in October, we had a totally last minute family mini session with Delle from T07 photography. I love sending out Christmas cards with a picture of us, and I was going to do them ourselves. I found out that our neighbours were doing a session with Delle and she had room after, so she squeezed us in. Thanks again Delle!

Scenes from the week + end

Happy Monday everyone! I feel like we had two not so great weekends (potty training that didn't go as planned and Brian was sick) in a row, so let's make next one better. Got that universe?

I didn't take many pictures last week, so let's see what we were up to:
  • on Monday night I went to the workout class that I signed up for at our community centre. It started the week before and I had originally signed up for a barre class. I thought this was going to be different, but it was like solely ballet moves and I have ZERO co-ordination or dance experience. Luckily, they let me switch to another one that is more circuit training which is way more my style.
  • workouts in the basement in the morning while Gabe sleeps with these crazy two kids

  •  hanging out on big sisters bed

  • on Wednesday, Gabe and I hung out at home all day. I thought about actually leaving the house, but a nap, doing some cleaning and catching up on TV sounded like a better idea

  • on Thursday, we had no plans in the morning, so our neighbour's daughter came over so she could run to an appointment. The girls had fun playing together. In the afternoon, Amelia and I played in the snow and made a quick trip to the library

  • on Friday, Amelia went to the day home (we had an extra day to use), so Gabe and I went to the mall in the morning to pick up some Christmas gifts and then took Harley for a chilly walk in the afternoon. Gabe wasn't bothered and had a good sleep all bundled up! Brian was gone for the night, so once I got the kids to bed, I watched some tv and read

  • Brian got back on Saturday morning, but wasn't feeling good, so he spent the day in bed. I had to get out of the house in the afternoon, so the kids and I went to Home Depot (Amelia played with all of the dancing/signing Christmas toys), and then to get some Timbits.

  • on Sunday, I surprised Amelia with taking her to see Disney on Ice. As soon as the music started playing and the characters came out, she was so excited! I loved watching her face. The show was 2 hours long with an intermission, and she only got a bit antsy towards the end, so she did really well.

{gabriel}: five months

Blanket from Eenvoudig - Simply Unique
You can find his previous updates here:

One month
Two months

Three months
Four months

Weight/length: not sure about length, but he was 14lbs 5oz at the clinic last week

Diapers/clothes: he wears size 2 baby dry diapers, and is wearing 6 months clothes.

  • his sister
  • splashing in the bath
  • sucking his thumb when tired
  • rolling
  • his exersaucer, jumperoo
  • being tired
  • being flat on his back
Eating: he is still 100% breastfed and will usually eat after each nap/when he wakes up in the morning. He gets a bottle of pumped breast milk each day. I ended up going to the doctor and got a prescription for domperidon to help my supply. My doctor put me on the lowest dose possible and it's definitely working.

Sleeping: oh man, we had a good few weeks (meaning one wake up), but the last week or so has been rough. He has been getting up anywhere from 2-4 times per night. I've started letting him cry a bit and he will fall back asleep every now and then. He goes to bed between 6:45-7pm each night and is up anywhere between 6-7:30am. He naps 3-4 times per day depending on the length. His naps range from 45 minutes to 2 hours. He still loves and only sleeps on his belly.

  • he now has two bottom teeth
  • he can rotate himself around quite well. I have found him completely flipped in his crib from how I put him down
  • LOVES to grab hair, skin or anything close to him
  • has the best smile and laugh

Scenes from the week + end

Happy Monday everyone! I feel like my maternity leave is just flying by- some days feel long of course, but the weeks seem to go by fast.

{tuesday}: Halloween! During the day, Amelia had her last class in the morning and then we hung out at home. Amelia wasn't quite sure about wearing her costume, but we got her to wear the top half of the monkey costume and off tricking or treating it was! Brian took her out for the first half of our street while I handed out candy with Gabe. It was raining on and off that night, so I think we got less kids than normal. Amelia was so cute going up to each house; she had no fear at all!

{wednesday}: in the morning, I dropped Amelia off at the dayhome and she started crying so hard when I was about to leave. She hasn't done that since she first started going and it just about broke my heart :( Luckily, she settled down and had a good day there. Gabe and I ran to the mall to do some errands and then hung out at home.

{thursday}: we had a play date with my friend (that I met at the airport) and her kids. It was super snowy and cold out, so it was nice to be home and just let the kids play. They left after lunch, and then we had a quiet afternoon hanging out, and playing in the snow as Amelia insisted.

{friday}: we had our neighbour and her youngest two kids over for a play date. It was another cold and snowy day, so we were more than happy to be inside with the kids!

{saturday}: we had a quiet morning around the house. I got some cleaning done while Brian and the kids hung out playing. In the afternoon, we headed over to Alison and Justin's for Ryder's birthday party. Alison killed it with the party theme yet again!

{sunday}: oh man, yesterday seemed like such a long day! I don't know if it was the time change, or the fact that Gabe was up a bunch in the night, or that Amelia was super grumpy in the morning. I was counting down the hours until bedtime!  In the morning, I did a short ab workout and then bundled up Amelia and took her for a run with Harley. It was chilly, but nice to be out running. In the afternoon, Brian went for a bike ride with some friends and then helped change his tires over on his vehicle. Other than that, we didn't do much and spent the day hanging out.

Tell me: how was your weekend?
