{weekend recap}

We had a fabulous weekend even though it felt like today should have been Saturday and not Sunday :(. Even though I love my job, sometimes I get the blues on Sunday night knowing I have to get up early tomorrow. Anyone else out there like that?

Friday night was pretty boring! We didn't do much except hang out at home and watch a movie. We watched Shutter Island...I had read the book and LOVED it, so after reading the book it gave away the ending for me. It was still a pretty good movie.

Saturday, I went shopping with one of my co-workers. We went to IKEA (since neither of our husbands like it!) and I bought a bunch of stuff for the wedding. They always make the room set ups so nice in there. We also went to Michael's and Wal-Mart. Mr.D had to attend a work function, so I had the night to myself. I worked on some wedding projects (the days are in the 70s now!) and watched wedding shows...my kind of night!

Yesterday I had the most fabulous sleep-in that I've had in a long time! I'm ashamed to admit that I didn't wake up until close to 10:30am. It was so glorious though! In the afternoon we went to watch Mr.D's friend compete in a Cross Fit competition. Those athletes are crazy fit!! If you don't know what cross fit is, definitely Google it and watch a video of the workouts they do. Mr.D's friend placed in the top 15 from Canada, which was pretty impressive.

How was your weekend? What were you up to?

{ happy friday }

Oh happy Friday! For a short week, it went really fast so no complaining there! I only wish it was a long weekend again.

It was raining all day yesterday and slowly turned into snow last night. Yes, that's right, I said SNOW! Alberta really isn't getting the memo that spring and summer should be starting...not winter.

Proof:

You can also see our bare and not exciting backyard. We are going to plant a few trees and flowers once this snow passes. Hopefully it will give us some privacy as you can see we don't have any!

The picture above was from moving weekend. Yes, Mr.D is that much taller than me!
Hope you have a great weekend!

Blah

That's exactly how I am feeling today. It's grey, dreary and starting to rain here. All this weather makes me want to do is go home and curl up in bed watching a sappy romantic movie.

Anyone care to bring me some sunshine?

Ok, enough whining from me. I promise.

I can't believe that it's the end of May already! I'm not sure where this year has gone already. I feel like I am going to blink and it will be our wedding, which wouldn't be a bad thing except for the fact that I still have lots to do. In 79 days!

This weekend is our only free weekend until the July long weekend...crazy! Then in July, we are off to Ontario one weekend and then to our stag/stagette and my shower.

Ok, end of my random blah post.

{wedding wednesday} Table Numbers Revisited

Back in March, I talked about wanting to use chalkboard table numbers for the wedding. What I didn't say was that although I liked the idea of using the chalkboard paint, it just wasn't making me happy with how it came out.

Since I wasn't happy with that idea, I decided to do a little Google searching and came up with an image that definitely inspired me!

The image:

To me, it is the perfect way to incorporate Mr.D into the wedding (ten points if you can guess how it relates to Mr.D and his job!)

I can't decide if I want to have it coming out of the flowers and vase or if I want to buy simple frames and put the numbers in there. What do you think I should do?

In other wedding related news, we have gotten a few RSVP's back as people started to receive their invitations last week. So exciting! I have also gotten really good feedback about them, which was nice.

{ weekend recap }

So sad that the long weekend is already over! :( It went wayy too fast!

Friday night, Mr.D and I went shopping to find a duvet or bed-in-a-bag for our new bed, but had no luck. We checked out: Winners, Home Sense, Home Outfitters, The Bay, etc. Everything that we found either was ugly or didn't come with a sheet set. Definitely very frustrating!

On Saturday morning, our new bed was delivered! Once we got it set up, we headed out and drove back to Mr.D's hometown. We got into town in the later afternoon and had dinner at Mr.D's brother's house. It was nice to catch up with them and see our niece again. She is getting so big! That night, we went to watch Mr.D's friend's handball game, as they were playing in a national tournament.

On Sunday, we went and watched more of Mr.D's friend's handball games. The weather was not nice at all this weekend...it rained basically the whole time and was cold. Later that night, we went out for a dinner with another one of Mr.D's friends and his wife. We hadn't seen them for a couple months, so it was nice to catch up.

On Monday, we visited with Mr.D's grandparents and then headed home. It was a busy weekend and I'm sad the long weekend is over already. Happy it's a four day work week though!

Did you know that Costco is selling Rock & Republic jeans?! They were selling them for $98.99 and I might have bought a pair, haha. I don't normally buy brand name jeans like that, but I decided to treat myself.

Hope you had a great weekend!

{ happy friday }

It's Friday...woo hoo! I don't know why, but yesterday felt like it should be Friday...if only it was!

I am so happy that this weekend is a long weekend! I'm ready to sleep in on Saturday, but knowing my luck I will wake up bright and early.

We don't have much planned this weekend. Depending on when our new mattress is delivered on Saturday, we are going to head back to Mr.D's hometown. One of his good friends is home from France, where he had been playing handball for the past 6 months. It will be good to catch up with him again.

What are you doing this weekend? Hope you have a great weekend!

Random post of sorts

I've been a bad blogger yet again...I honestly meant to take some pictures of our place last night, but we had to meet with our old landlord to do the walk through and it ended up taking a long time. That meant that we got home after it was dark and that doesn't work really well for pictures. I promise next week!

Onto the randomness:

1) I was driving home last night and looked over to the car to my right and there was a guy picking his nose. I quickly turned away as I was quite disgusted, but something made me look back. And there he was putting it into his mouth and eating it! I almost threw up right there!!

2) Last night, a nurse came to our house for our life insurance application. One of the things that she required was a blood sample, and let me tell you getting my blood taken is the worst thing to me! She tried to get a sample and failed the first time. The second time, she went back in the same spot and it wasn't cool! Let's just say the experience ended with me puking. Fun...not!

3) Our new bed comes on the weekend and I'm excited! We don't get our bedroom set for another month, so it will just be our mattress on the floor. Kind of ghetto, but oh well!

Hope you have a great day!

{wedding wednesday} DIY Guestbook

I am hopefully going to be finally back into my blogging routine...we still have stuff to do with the house, but all of the major appointments and things are out of the way.

This week's {wedding wednesday} is all about our guestbook. The one thing I knew that I wanted for our guestbook was for it to be different and not your typical guestbook. To me, I wouldn't look back on a book with our pictures and people's signature. I'm not really sure what you would call our guestbook, but I decided to use 4x6 cards for people to leave us a comment, advice, wish, etc for our future.

The sign telling our guests what to do

The set up

The set up again

The sign says:

Instead of signing a traditional guest book, please write a message of advice, a wish or a prediction for Brian and Leigh's future together on a card or two and drop it into the vase.
Don't forget your name!

I can't remember exactly where I found the sign wording, so I apologize to whoevers idea I borrowed!

Cost:

Vase: ~$15
Frame: $4
Spray paint for the frame: $0 as I had it from another project
Cardstock: $2

Total: $21

I am super happy with how it came out and hopefully people fill out the cards!

Bad, bad blogger

I've been a bad blogger....I said yesterday that I would be back today with pictures of our new house, and it's now 9am and I'm at work without pictures to show you. It just seems like I have zero spare time lately and last night was no exception. So, tomorrow I will be back with a {wedding wednesday} post and pictures on Thursday. I promise this time :)

{ weekend recap }

Holy what a weekend it was! We got the keys to our new house on Friday and it's been go, go, go since then!

On Friday, Mr.D met our realtor and got the keys to our new house. It was luckily really clean, which was awesome! We did steam clean all of the carpets and it was amazing what came out of them! Mr.D's parents came into town to help us move on Friday also.

Saturday morning started bright and early! We were done moving everything into the new house by 3pm, which was pretty good. The weather was gorgeous here this weekend, so it made the move much nicer. Saturday night was spent unpacking boxes and hanging out. We were all pretty tired by the end of the day!

The house is slowly starting to feel like our home and I can't wait to decorate and put my own touch in it. We had ordered a sectional for the basement, but unfortunately it wouldn't fit down the basement stairs. We are going back to the store tomorrow night to hopefully order another one that will fit.

I'll be back tomorrow with some pictures!

Busy, busy, busy

This week is crazy busy! Between meetings with the lawyers, life insurance, bank, packing, working out and working, I don't have a lot of time (feeling sorry for me yet?!)

I will be back next week with some pictures of our new place and for { wedding wednesday }.

Have a great week!

{ weekend recap }

Another weekend has flown by yet again! :( This weekend was pretty busy too...lots and lots of packing was done!

My weekend consisted of:
  • going to Bed, Bath and Beyond to check out cutlery and knife sets for the registry
  • packing, packing and more packing!
  • paying for the rest of our couches that are being delivered next weekend...woo!
  • going to Costco- never a good idea on a Saturday in Calgary
  • watching Mr.D's rugby game in the cold. Alberta must have missed the spring memo
  • watching the move It's Complicated. It was quite funny! I started to really dislike Alec Baldwin in the movie- he was such a sleeze ball!

So this might just be funny to me because of my lame sense of humour or because of the fact that I was getting so sick of packing...check out of the picture below.

Please tell me that I'm not the only one who sees the face!

How was your weekend?

{happy friday}

Happy Friday everyone! This week has gone by super fast...it's a good and bad thing! We still have a lot of packing to do (who put all this stuff in our place?!), so the slower time goes the better. But I am so, so excited to move next weekend!

We don't have many plans for this weekend except to keep packing and organizing everything. I want to also finish the thank you cards...only about 20 more to go.

What are you up to this weekend? Hope you have a great weekend!

{wedding wednesday} DIY thank you cards

First off, there is 101 days until the wedding!! Holy crap! I remember when it was well over 300 days until the wedding. The days are flying by and the wedding is coming up really fast!

This week, I wanted to show you the DIY thank you cards that I started last week. After the invitations were all cut out, I had left over ivory and brown card stock and decided to make thank you cards with it. A couple month's ago, I had picked up a 'thank you' stamp from Michael's for $1.50 and decided it would be perfect for the invitations. I also found the ribbon at Michael's for 50 cents per roll.

How do you think they turned out? Would you like to receive one in the mail?

"Getting back on the wagon"

I've been bad...I haven't worked out for the past 3-4 weeks! Between wedding projects, house hunting, house buying, etc I was pretty busy and tired by the end of the day. That meant this girl had no desire to work out. Luckily, I didn't gain any weight back.

I decided yesterday that enough was enough, it was time for me to get back on the working out wagon. I started the 30 day shred again and if the weather cooperates, I will walk on my lunch hour. Hopefully I can do the 30 day shred 3-4 times per week...it might fluctuate in the coming weeks with moving and getting settled.

Although I have already reached my goal of fitting into my dress, I would still like to lose another couple of pounds by the wedding. I think I can reach it, it will just take me making sure I watch what I eat and not stopping exercising again!

{weekend recap}

Since I was a bad blogger and didn't blog on Thursday or Friday of last week, I'll start there.

On Thursday night BM K invited me to go see The Spelling Bee. Neither of us were really sure what to expect, but it was quite hilarious! They had 4 people from the audience come on stage and join the cast as "spellers". They had one middle aged man who was just moving and singing along with the songs...so funny!

Friday night, our landlord was bringing people through our place, so we went out for dinner. After dinner, we were both tired so we came home and watched Thursday night's episode of Grey's Anatomy. I like the previous season's better than the current one.

On Saturday, I ran some errands and then went and watched Mr.D's first rugby game of the season. The weather was pretty nice...better than the freak snow storm we had on Wednesday/Thursday last week! Later that night, we went out with Mr.D's rugby team as they were having a fundraiser. It was actually quite fun as we were hanging out talking to another couple and getting to know them.

Yesterday, was pretty laid back. Got some groceries (always fun!) and worked on some wedding stuff. I also started to pack some boxes as we move in less than two weeks now! Ahhh! Our place is slowly being overcome by boxes.

What were you up to this weekend?
