{happy friday}

Happy Friday everyone! I have the day off and am so excited to be able to sleep in! Did anyone watch Grey’s last night? I didn’t like this episode at all…hopefully this style of the show doesn’t stay around for too long.

This weekend, we are:

  • visiting with my dad and his wife. They fly in tonight from Ontario until Monday. A quick visit, but it will be great to catch up with them. They haven’t seen our new house yet, so it will fun to show them around.
  • maybe a trip to Banff depending on how the weather is
  • hopefully get in a short run while my dad is here

This week, we got our ‘day after’ shoot pictures in the mail and can’t wait to show them to you! Here is a sneak peek:

What are you up to this weekend? Hope it’s great whatever you are doing Smile

DIY Halloween projects

As Halloween is getting closer and closer, I figured I probably should post my DIY projects that I completed a few weeks ago.

Our fireplace is a large open space waiting for some creativity to hit it, so I thought it would be a great place to start. I gathered all of my supplies mostly from the Dollarama and Wal-Mart and went wild.

IMG_1065

The picture isn’t the greatest, but it gives you an idea of how it turned out.  I already had the vases, mirror and large red candle. I found the ‘trick or treat’ banner from the Martha Stewart line at Wal-Mart for really cheap, and same with the spider webs.

In the picture above, you can see the wreath that I made out of candy corn. It was the easiest project, which I originally found the idea here. All I needed was: a wreath, candy corn, electric tape, hot glue gun and ribbon. I think the whole project took me about an hour (with time to eat some candy corn! Smile)IMG_1072

Don’t mind my reflection in the mirror Smile

The last project was inspired by this post. All it involved was: brown paper bags, LED candles ($3 for 3 at Wal-Mart) and your choice of cut outs. I happened to find my crows at Wal-Mart a month ago for really cheap. I can’t wait to put them on our walk way for Halloween.

Happy early Halloween everyone!

{wedding wednesday} Family time

Thank you everyone for your sweet birthday wishes yesterday! I had a fantastic birthday, which included a fabulous birthday dinner made by Mr.D.

********************************************************

This week’s {wedding wednesday} is about our family pictures. After we did our first look, we had our family meet us at the same location and we quickly knocked them out. Neither Mr.D or I have a large immediate family, so that helped make things go quickly as well.

Happy B-Day Leigh!

October 26th, 1986, just a regular Sunday. Reagan signed the Tax Reform Act in the United States, Bon Jovi’s “You Give Love a Bad Name” is making its way up the Billboard Top 100, and a little bundle of joy entered the world. Leigh (no middle name) Honsberger became one of the greatest gifts her parents ever received, and now, 24 years later, she is the greatest gift I have ever received. I am happy to write this blog for her because Leigh is very modest when she talks about herself, and I am worried that her readers do not ever get to see how special she really is.

When I first met Leigh in Mexico she was a little energetic spitfire that could hang out with 8 guys and still manage to fit in. I knew I wanted to see if we could make a relationship work when I spent 5 full days with her and wasn’t ready to throw her off a balcony (in the past I have become bored and/or annoyed with girls fairly quickly), and even after three and a half years not a day goes by that I don’t get excited to wake up next to Leigh.

Now I have had the pleasure of seeing Leigh in various states on her birthday, and I must say my favourite was when she was super trashed on her 21st birthday. I had gone to visit her in Hamilton for her birthday weekend, which consisted of getting drunk at her student house playing “Sociables” (P.S. Leigh thought 12 inch rims were hip hop sweet!!") and then getting REALLY drunk at a Halloween party. Needless to say, Leigh came home in this state.

101

One of the most fun weekends I have ever had.

I don’t think this year will have quite the same result as her 21st birthday, but I hope I can make her birthday as special this year for her as her 21st birthday was special for me.

Thanks for tolerating my terrible blogging skills, you can rest easy knowing Leigh will be back in the next post.

{weekend recap} and a PR!

This weekend was a great weekend that involved a Cirque du Soliel show, a PR (more on that later!) and lots of lounging around the house. It was perfect :)

On Friday, Mr.D picked me up from work and we went to the Max Bell Centre sale.  This is a ski and snowboard sale that has been going on for 40+ years, where companies can sell their stock from last year or people can sell their new/used items. We were there before 5pm when it started and there was already a HUGE line up. I definitely recommend getting there early if you ever go. After the sale, we headed to the Kooza show, which was at the Stampede Grounds. The show was AMAZING! I have never seen such incredible talent. There were a few times that I couldn’t watch because I really thought one of the performers was going to fall and hurt themselves!  Thankfully no one was hurt :)

On Saturday morning, we were up bright and early for our 5k run. This run was the same one that we did last year, and it was snowing then. Luckily, the snow stayed away but it was kind of chilly at the beginning of the run. Last year I ran it in 34 minutes and I was secretly hoping to do around 30 minutes this year.  I came in at 29:43, which is not fast, but I am super proud of myself for taking 4:15 minutes off of my time!   I have another 5k at the beginning of November, so hopefully I can take more time off again.

Saturday afternoon and Sunday I was not feeling ‘right’ at all. It felt like I was hungry so I would eat, but my stomach still hurt. Not really sure what is up with my stomach, so I spent both days just hanging out around the house and watching lots of tv. Hopefully it passes quickly because I want to get back out running and don’t want to be sick for my birthday on Tuesday!

How was your weekend? What did you do?

{happy friday}

Happy Friday everyone! Love that the weekend is here again :)

This weekend, I am:

  • going to see a Cirque du Soliel show tonight!
  • running a 5k tomorrow with Mr.D. I am hoping to finish in a better time than last year
  • Having an afternoon to myself with no plans as of yet

Can you tell that I LOVE our wedding pictures?!

What do you have planned for this weekend?

{what i’m loving}

Happy Thursday everyone! Getting closer to Friday :)

WILW

{one} The weather. It has been pretty nice this week and I am so not ready to give up running and biking outside for snow. There is a chance of snow/rain on Friday, and it does not make me excited at all!

{two} Date nights. On Friday night, Mr.D and I are going to see Kooza which is a Cirque du Soleil show. It looks fantastic and I have heard fantastic things about it!

{three} Windows Live Writer. I only recently found out about it, so I decided to download it and give it a try. So far, it’s way easier to write out my blog posts and insert pictures into the posts. I don’t know why, but lately blogger has been messing up my writing once I’ve inserted pictures in the post. Hopefully this will solve my problems!

{four} My followers. Thank you to all of you for reading my little ol’ blog and commenting. It means so much when I open my email in the morning and see comments. You are fantastic!

{five} My husband. He makes me laugh and smile everyday! Plus he’s kind of cute :)

{wedding wednesday} First look

This week's {wedding wednesday} is all about our first look. While planning our wedding, Mr.D and I decided that because a good portion of our guests were coming from out of town, it was important to us that the ceremony and reception were close together and in the same location. Because of this, it meant that we had to do our pictures before the ceremony. I never had an issue with seeing Mr.D before the ceremony, but I definitely got some flack from one of my bridesmaids.

Making my way to Mr.D and holding back the tears

Getting closer

First look of each other that day after all of that planning. The look on Mr.D's face was something I will remember forever

I didn't think Mr.D would cry when he saw me for the first time, but tears were shed. I was wiping away his happy tears :)

Just a few kisses to start the day off :)

I am so, so happy that we decided to do a first look. Although I was still really nervous for the ceremony, I think it helped calm me down a lot, and I will always treasure those moments that Mr.D and I had together alone.

Music help!

This weekend Mr.D and I are running a 5k and I desperately need some new music to put on my i-pod. I am getting sick of everything I have been listening to in the last month and am in desperate need of new music!

So feel free to leave a comment with some music suggestions. I will greatly appreciate it!

*** Edited to add: I like most types of music with the exception of country and hard core rap. I like music that can pump me up when I'm running, but I don't mind slow songs either***

{weekend recap}

Another weekend has come and gone by too fast!

On Friday night, I met up with bridesmaid K and some of her friends at a pub downtown. I haven't been out for drinks in such a long time that it was fun to get out! It was great being able to have girl chat. Not that I don't like talking to Mr.D, but it's fun to talk about girly things now and then.

On Saturday, I had a wonderful sleep in until almost 10am! I haven't been able to sleep in for that long in such a long time, so it was fabulous. Mr.D and I had some running around to do and then he left to go biking with some friends. I won't lie, I laid on the couch for a while trying to get motivated to run. I finally decided that my waistline would appreciate a run, so off I went. It was pretty chilly though. No to winter!! For dinner, we decided to make pizza bombs that I saw here and were originally found here. They were so easy to make and so tasty!

Yesterday, I was awoken to breakfast in bed by Mr.D. Totally suprised by it and made me love him even more :) We were pretty lazy and laid in bed reading for a while (the perfect morning!) then cleaned the house. Later in the afternoon we went for a 15k bike ride because the weather finally decided to warm up.

Although we didn't do anything super exciting this weekend, it was perfect. Just not ready to go back to work!

How was your weekend? What were you up to?

{happy friday}

Happy Friday everyone! Although this week was a four day week, it felt like it dragged on. I hate those types of weeks! But it's the weekend :)

This weekend, I am going to:

  • have drinks with one of my bridesmaids who I haven't seen in a few weeks. It will be good to catch up and have a girls night

  • go for a run. Next weekend we are running a 5k, so it will be nice to get out when I am not rushed after work

  • work on and start a few projects that I have up my sleeve

What do you have planned for the weekend?

Makes my heart melt...

Mr.D and our niece on the weekend. The picture makes my heart melt at the thought of having our own kids one day and they being so excited to be in their dad's arms with no cares in the world.

Can you tell I have baby fever?!

{wedding wednesday} Getting ready

Our wedding pictures are here!! That means that I can officially start to recap our wedding. So excited to show you our day and the pictures as I love both of them!

After all of the girls and myself had our hair and make up done, we made our way back to the hotel to start getting into our dresses. As we were doing that, the boys were hanging out at Mr.D's parent's house where our second photographer was too. I was pretty calm at this point, once my half brown bouquet had been fixed (that's a story for another day!). Thank goodness for quick thinking bridesmaids to save the day! I was just so excited to finally put on my dress and see Mr.D for the first time.

My dress in all of it's prettiness

Last minute fixes to our nails

Final touches of lip gloss from my MOH

So excited that the wedding day was finally here!

I love this picture of Mr.D's mom with all of the boys. It feels like she is taking in the morning

Of course the boys had beer the morning of the wedding!

Next week will be our first look, which the best idea we had during wedding planning!

{weekend recap}

The long and gorgeous weekend has come and gone yet again! The weather was beautiful this weekend, and it was fabulous to be able to spend it with our family and friends for Thanksgiving.

On Friday, we made the three hour drive to Mr.D's hometown. Mr.D's car ran into some trouble about half way through our drive, but luckily it survived the rest of the trip and his dad was able to fix it once we arrived. Later in the night, we went over to my bridesmaid T's house to have dinner with her and her boyfriend. She made us a fantastic dinner! After dinner, we just hung out and caught up. Later on, we went to see The Social Network. I thought it was pretty good and interesting. There was lots that I didn't know about how Facebook was started and the founder of it.

On Saturday, we were up bright and early to meet our wedding photographer for our day after shoot. Our photographer had found an awesome location, but it was about 40 minutes away, which is way we left really early. It was fun to wear my dress again, and Mr.D was spiffed up in a suit. The 1.5 hours of shooting went by really fast and I can't wait to see the pictures! After the pictures, we hung out for the afternoon and then went out for a birthday celebration dinner for my brother in law. The birthday boy wanted all you can eat shrimp, so all of the boys in our group made it a friendly eating competition, haha.

Sunday was Thanksgiving dinner for our family, so the day was spent helping out in the kitchen and spending time with family. Oh and of course eating delicious turkey, stuffing and perogies! I am still so full from that dinner! We got to spend lots of time with our niece who is growing like crazy and already starting to walk (with help) at ten months!

I was a bad blogger again this weekend and didn't take a single picture! I really need to start puling my camera out more often. Oh, and we got our wedding pictures on the weekend, so I will start recapping our wedding this week. So excited!

How was your weekend?

Ps- two weeks until my birthday!!

{happy friday}

Happy Friday everyone! This Friday is extra awesome because I have it off and I have Monday off...love four day weekends!

This weekend we are heading to Mr.D's parent's house for Thanksgiving. Tonight we are meeting up with bridesmaid T and her boyfriend for dinner and a movie. We haven't really seen them since the wedding, so it will be great to catch up. On Saturday we are doing our 'day after' photoshoot with our photographer. So excited to wear my dress again! Sunday is of course turkey day, which means lots of stuffing for me!

I hope everyone has a great weekend and happy Thanksgiving to all of my Canadian readers!

{what i'm loving}

Happy Thursday everyone! Hope your week is going well :)

{one} Long weekends- this week I have Friday and Monday off, which is awesome! So excited for a long weekend. This weekend is long because reason number two...

{two} Thanksgiving! This weekend is Canadian thanksgiving. Unfortunately I won't be able to see my family, but we are getting to spend the weekend with Mr.D's family. I am so, so excited for stuffing! I really could go without everything else as long as I get stuffing :)

{three} the sun! This week has been awesome weather wise again. It has been between 15-20 celcius each day and it's been awesome. I am not ready for the weather to turn even colder and for the snow to start falling.

{four} hair cuts! On Wednesday night, I had my hair highlighted and cut and I LOVE it! It's a little shorter than I expected, but it's a nice change. Pictures to come next week :)

What are you loving this week?

Ps- make sure you check out Jamie's fabulous blog!

{wedding wednesday} Getting pretty

** Blogger has not been liking me for the past two days and won't upload more pictures, so I will try again later today. So lame! Sorry!**

The morning of the wedding, the girls and I were up at 7am so we could have time to grab a quick breakfast in the hotels restaurant. Once we all had something in our bellies to fuel us for the day, we were off to the salon for 8am.

Once we got to the salon, we all had our own hair dresser to do our hair. We only had one make up artist, but luckily she was great at what she does and had each of us in and out of her chair in about thirty minutes. Our photographer was not starting until 12pm, so luckily a family friend was able to come to the salon to capture the mornings events.

Just getting started

{weekend recap}

This weekend was a fabulous fall weekend! It involved a long bike ride and a visit to the corn maze.

Friday night was pretty laid back as Mr.D went down hill biking after work with some co-workers, so he wasn't home until later. I quite enjoyed the time to myself :)

On Saturday, we ran a few errands in the morning. It was 24C out, so we decided to take advantage of the gorgeous day! We decided to head out for a bike ride and just ride until we were tired. We ended up biking about 42 km with a lot of hills thrown in there. By the time we got home, we were both pretty hot and tired! Later on in the day, we went over to one of Mr.D's co-worker's house to visit with them and their new baby. They had their little girl about a month ago and she is so adorable! She had a full head of black hair. I was a bad blogger and didn't take a single picture all weekend :(

On Sunday, Mr.D and I went to the Calgary Corn Maze to meet up with Rachel and her friend Vanessa. I had never been to the corn maze before and it was fun! It would definitely be a lot more fun when we have kids to bring there :) We bought a two pumpkins that are perfect for carving for Halloween while we were there.

How was your weekend? What were you up to?

{happy friday}

Happy Friday everyone! So excited it's the weekend again. Can you tell I love my weekends?!

This weekend, I am excited to:

{one} sleep in! I love my sleep!

{two} Go to the corn maze and pick pumpkins on Sunday with Rachel and her husband. We had fun the last time that we hung out, so I think Sunday will be as well :)

{three} Go for a bike ride. Lately, I have been loving cycling! Something about just biking away, while enjoying the sun and having time to myself has been wonderful. Not to say that I don't like hanging out with Mr.D!

{four} Meeting one of Mr.D's co-worker's new baby girl. I love babies!

What do you have planned for the weekend? Whatever it may be, I hope it's fantastic!

Ps- it's crazy that's October already!!
