{weekend recap}

Happy Monday everyone! Another weekend went by too fast.....one more day and it would have been perfect :)


{friday} After work on Friday, I had an appointment to get my bangs trimmed. I decided to cut them shorter after growing them out for a long time, and glad that I cut them so far. After my appointment, I took Harley for a run and this happened:

I know it might not be exciting for some, but I don't think I have EVER run a 5k in the 25 minute range, so I was super excited. Looks like I am doing something right!

{saturday} Mr.D's friends came into town and stayed with us for the weekend. In the morning, Mr.D, his friend and myself hit up a CrossFit class. It was a real grinder and killed my legs! After our workout, the boys went out for lunch and I took Harley for a walk. It was a gorgeous sunny day! The rest of the day was spent showering and getting ready for our photo shoot with Whitney. She sent me two teasers from the shoot and here they are:

I LOVE them! Can't wait to see the rest of them :) After our photo shoot, we came home and had a fun night in with our friends.

{sunday} Some of us were feeling a little rough in the morning, so a sleep in was required. Mr.D made us a fantastic breakfast and then it was off for a run for me and a bike ride for Mr.D. The rest of the day was spent lounging around.

I also wanted to say congratulations to Lauren on her amazing marathon PR and her engagement! So excited for you Lauren!

Dear rain, I love how you make the grass green and the flowers start to grow, but please go away now. I've had enough of you and am I ready to run without being soaked. Random Thursday

Is it Friday yet?! I've been having weird dreams all of this week...I don't even know where to start describing the dreams. I usually dream the week before I get my period (TMI?), but I have already have my aunt flow, so not really sure what is going on. Anyone else have really vivid dreams?


I don't have much to blog about today, so it's going to be random.

I confess....that I have the worst patience in the world! I am sure that if you asked Mr.D or Harley, they would both agree. Let's not even talk about how many times I have come home from a walk with Harley frustrated as hell because I lost my patience with Harley and his bad walking skills. Or when I am driving with Mr.D and I say "go people" in an angry voice because another driver is driving slowly or terribly. I really wish I had better patience....how does one go about learning how to have better patience?!

Training Tuesday

Another week done....can you make time slow down?!




Monday: 5.5km walk with Harley & a CrossFit class


WOD:

A. Deadlift 5 reps x 5 sets {worked up to 108lbs}
B. AMRAP in 5 minutes: 10 bar facing burpees and 5 power cleans {used 53lbs}

Tuesday: 6km run {1 mile warm up, 7 x400's and 1 mile cool down} and 4km walk with Harley

Wednesday: CrossFit class

WOD:
A. AMSAP push jerk ladder in ten minutes
B. AMSAP toes to bar ladder in ten minutes

Thursday: 6km run and ab workout

Friday: 7.2km walk with Harley in the coulee

Saturday: 3.8km walk with Harley and a CrossFit class

WOD:

5 rounds for time of:
400m run 
10 tire flips

Sunday: 14km run

The best workout of the week would have to be the CrossFit class on Wednesday or my 14km run on Sunday. My run on Sunday was so nice in the sunshine and felt amazing the entire time! Love when a run goes that way.

{weekend recap}

One word to summarize this weekend is BEAUTIFUL! The weather was beyond fabulous and it's apparently going to stay around for a few days. I wouldn't mind if it stayed like this until September! :)


{friday} After work, Mr.D and I took Harley for a walk down in the ravine/coulee by our house. He is able to run free down there through the bushes and streams....he loves it! After our walk, we made a quick trip to Best Buy in search of a new lap top for myself. I have had my old lap top since university, so at least 6 years now. It was slowly dying as the screen would flicker on and off if you didn't have it at a certain angle. Best Buy had some great deals going on....we found a Toshiba on sale PLUS $100 off if you brought in an old desktop or laptop, which we did. Currently writing this post from the new lap top :)


{saturday} Mr.D and I went to a great CrossFit class in the morning, which included running and tire flipping in the workout. After CrossFit, we took Harley up to the park to throw the ball around and then ran errands for the afternoon. The rest of the day included another walk for Harley, a BBQ dinner and a movie night on the couch.

{sunday} I left for my run around 9am and it was a smart choice as by the end of my 14km run (which was a fantastic run!), I was sweating a lot. After my run, I quickly showered and grabbed Harley and we were off to Alison & Justin's for a walk with Alison and Cruz. The dogs loved running in the ravine while we enjoyed the sun and chatting. While we were walking the dogs, the husband's were off riding their bikes. Best part of the day? The boys wearing the exact same biking jersey and Alison and I dressing in the same colours. Great minds think a like! After our walk and the bike ride, we headed home for some yard work and dinner on the deck. Such a gorgeous day!

Three Things Thursday

Thank you for all of the comments on my post yesterday! I am glad that I am not the only one who has random body hair :) Just as a note, I'll be doing a link up each week, so I am looking forward to reading your confessions :)

Today, I am taking a note from Caitlin and turning my Three Things Thursday into Three Questions Thursday.

{one} what is the most embarrassing thing that has ever happened to you?
I am thinking hard about this one, but I am struggling to think of a really embarrassing moment in my life. Is that bad?

{two} if you could only drive one car (with it being upgraded every few years) for the rest of your life, what car would it be?
I would have to say something fun like a convertible even though it's not that practical in Alberta. Or an Infinite G37. 

{three} what is your greatest fear in life?
Not having the chance to see the world or have children. Or having a loved one die without getting to say goodbye. This is such an upbeat question!

I confess....that I have one random relatively thick chin hair. Just one, not three or many more, I promise. I am constantly feeling my chin to make sure it doesn't randomly sprout up on me, haha. I can only imagine what it will be like when I am 80 years old!

Another week down in my training and onto week five already! This training cycle is going so fast.



Monday: 7.2km walk with Harley and a CrossFit class
WOD:
A: clean and push press 2 reps x 5 sets {worked up to 62lbs}
B: 400m run
40 ft handstand walk {did 2 thirty second handstand holds}

Tuesday: 5.4km run

Wednesday: 2.8km run as part of the CrossFit workout
WOD:
5 rounds for time

12 chest to bar pull ups {used two bands}
20 box jumps - 20"

Thursday: 3.2km walk with Harley

Friday: 3.8km walk with Harley

Saturday: CrossFit class {aka death by squats!}
WOD:
3 rounds of 
10 power snatch {used 52lbs}
50 squats


Sunday: 13km run


I think the best workout this training week was the CrossFit WOD on Wednesday. The running felt amazing and just felt strong the whole workout.

{happy friday}

Happy Friday everyone! So glad it's finally here. Why do the short weeks always feel so much longer?!


This weekend we actually don't have much planned at all. A run for me, a CrossFit workout, hopefully cleaning our carpets and maybe a get together with Alison & Justin. Now that I've finished all three of the 50 Shades books {yes, I read them all in 4 days}, it means that I actually have to do other stuff now. Darn.


Oh and did I mention that we got a big dump of snow last night? Just lovely Mother Nature. I shall have to re-pay you some how, some way.

These are my confessions {V3}

It's that time again...time to confess to something that I think no one will know about me. I was thinking....if I were to create a link up each week, would anyone else participate?

I confess....that I have to make the bed everyday and it drives me insane if it's  not done. There is something about how neat it makes the room look and how awesome it feels to climb into a made bed. It's like the sheets are cleaner when the bed has been made. Strange, I know. 


Further to that, I am perfectionist about how the bed is made. Sometimes when Mr.D makes the bed, I want to remake it because it's not how I like it. Yes, I realize that is totally ridiculous and controlling, but hey he loves me!

Training Tuesday

Before I get into my training talk, I wanted to mention a few things:

  • can we have another day off? I know I shouldn't complain as I had Friday and yesterday off, but one more day would be fabulous!
  • my mom sent me a gorgeous bouquet of flowers on Thursday. I love her!
  • I started reading the 50 Shades trilogy yesterday and can't put them down! The first book is very sexual, but if you can get past that, the book is fantastic!
  • for the daily workout at CrossFit, they post a picture with the workout and this was the picture from yesterday:

Now onto my training recap. Last year while training for the Centaur Subaru half marathon, I did a weekly recap of my training. I am a little late as I am now onto week 4 of 10 in my training plan. I think it's interesting for myself to look back on my weekly training, so I thought I would start with last week (week 3 of 10). I should also mention that I made my own training plan to incorporate my CrossFit into it, and also added speed training, which I have never done before. My fingers are crossed that it works out come race day!


Monday: 5.2km run
Tuesday: 4km walk & CrossFit class
Wednesday: rest as I was travelling for work
Thursday: 4km walk & 5km run with 6 x 400's at 7.4 on the treadmill
Friday: 4km walk & CrossFit class
Saturday: 11.2km run & 3km walk
Sunday: 3km walk & CrossFit class

{weekend recap}

Happy belated Easter everyone! How was your holiday weekend? Spend lots of time with family and eating? Our was pretty good :) I am off work today, but unfortunately Mr.D has to work. Sucks to be him!! Haha.


This weekend, we:

  • went grocery shopping as we were desperate for fresh fruit and vegetables
  • went to a CrossFit class on Friday morning
  • I went for a 11km run on Saturday morning....only 7 weeks left to go!
  • Had my in-laws in town on Saturday and Sunday. We made dinner for them on Saturday night and spent the night watching a movie.
  • we also dog sat a friend's dog on Saturday and Sunday, so we had a full house! Harley and her had a ball playing together

cricket cricket

Well hello there! Things have been mighty quiet around here lately and I apologize for that. This weekend was busy, traveled for work on Monday, was swamped at work yesterday and am traveling for work again today! Whew! 


Mr.D came home on Saturday afternoon from his bike trip and as soon as he got home, we were off again to his hometown. His grandpa turned 90, so his family had a birthday party for him. Unfortunately we got into town too late for the party, but were still able to visit with the family that came in from out of town. Sunday was spent visiting with family again and having a big early Easter dinner. Still full from that!


I have a feeling that I might be quiet for the rest of the week, but I promise that I will be back at it next week! If I don't post again this week, I hope everyone has a great Easter weekend!
