Three Things Thursday

Happy Thursday everyone! One day closer to the weekend and I couldn't be happier! Nothing was wrong yesterday, but it was just one of those days were I felt blah and meh. I am going to blame it on the weather and look forward to this weekend. I made myself a hair appointment and am looking forward to it :)

For my Three Things Thursday, I decided to go with three things that I don't understand.

{one} People who take their cat for a walk on a leash

Sorry if you are someone who does this, but I don't understand it at all. Why does your cat need to go for a walk? If you want to walk a pet, get a dog. Plus, dogs are MUCH better than cats. Just saying :)

{two} Why people put huge bows on their babies/toddlers and smocked clothing

Why does your daughter need a bow the size of her head of bigger on her?! Is this just a Southern thing? I don't mind bows on girls when they are a normal size.

{three} When someone says they will do something for you by a certain time and then don't do it

I can understand if something suddenly comes up, but just tell that person that you might be late delivering on your word. I'd rather know that it's going to be late, rather thinking that they broke their word to me.

Tell me: what don't you understand?

27 before 27

If you know anything about me, you would know that I love lists and crossing things off my list. So,  this post has been sitting in my draft pile for a long time and I figured I better get on it since my birthday is coming up in four months. Since I made the list a while ago, I've managed to complete some of the stuff on it, but I decided not to change it.

My list includes:

1. Run a marathon
2. Go skating
3. Run a 5k in under 26 minutes
4. Donate to charity
5. Go snow shoeing
6. Buy a stranger coffee/lunch
7. Attempt mountain biking again
8. Travel to Europe
9. Give up Diet Coke for ten days
10. Save $1000
11. Volunteer at a race
12. Give my blog a makeover
13. Donate my hair to locks of love
14. Blog for one month straight
15. Disconnect from social media for a weekend
16. Take a work related course
17. Run a 15k race
18. Figure out how to wear my hair naturally
19. Reconnect with an old friend
20. Send a card to an unsuspecting friend
21. Deadlift over 200lbs
22. Read 75 books
23. Cycle from our house to Cochrane (including the HUGE hill) and back
24. Buy a meal from a food truck
25. Run my 9th half marathon
26. Go garage sale-ing
27. Find the perfect pair of black boots

Tell me: what is on your "bucket (or birthday) list"?

Highlights of the weekend

June

Happy Monday everyone! How was your weekend? We had a couple random rain storms again this weekend, but it was gorgeous yesterday. I am ready for summer weather anytime now!

This weekend, I was supposed to go camping in Fernie with Mr.D and some friends, but since my ear wasn’t feeling 100% on Friday, I decided to stay home. Mr.D went, but ended up coming home with a cold. Neither of us can catch a break! Since Mr.D was gone, it was just Harley and I.

I won’t lie, I watched a lot of Pretty Little Liars this weekend! I had to get it in while Mr.D was gone as he definitely won’t be watching it with me. Other than that, Harley and I went on lots of walks and I did a couple of workouts. I made up one to do outside on Sunday in the sunshine and it was a good one! It was:

Other than that, I went to the mall on Saturday afternoon and found a couple of shirts for work. I am having zero luck with shopping lately and not liking anything that is in stores. Anyone else having this issue?

Three Things Thursday

Happy Thursday everyone! Almost through the work week...woo hoo! Here are my random things for this Thursday:

{one} I have an ear infection :( On Monday, my ear randomly started to hurt and progressed since then. I went to the doctor's yesterday and they confirmed it. Not fun at all! I've never had one before and wouldn't wish it on anyone. I ended up spending the day at home yesterday because the pain and pressure in my ear was so bad.

{two} we tried new recipes this week and both were really good! We made the kung pao chicken and the black bean spinach enchiladas. I found both recipes on a new to me website called Six Sisters Stuff.

{three} has anyone been watching the new season of So You Think You Can Dance? I love this show! I can't wait to see who makes the top 20.

Tell me: what are your three things for this Thursday?

Oh the weekend!

Hello there friends! Wait,  we are friends right? If not, let me know your price and I'll put a cheque into the mail for you ;)

I took zero pictures of our weekend, so you get words today. Lucky you! Friday night, Mr.D had a rugby related thing, so it was just Harley and I. I took him for a walk then did an Insanity workout. Later that night, I watched The Help for the second time. Love that movie and book!

Wait, I lied! A picture! Thank you Google!
Saturday morning, Mr.D and I went to a CrossFit class and then I took Harley for a walk. It was actually quite nice out surprisingly! In the afternoon, I ran some errands and Mr.D's parents came into town. His dad has a big truck, so we finally purchased the shed that Mr.D has been wanting from Costco for a couple of years. Now he has a fun project to do this summer :) That night, we went out for pizza to The Rock. If you haven't been there before, check it out....such good pizza.

Mr.D's parents went home on Sunday, so I did lots of cleaning, reading and working out.  I was also following along to see how our team from CrossFit Calgary was doing at the Canada West Regionals. They ended up finishing in third place ....such amazing athletes!

What I’m Loving

Happy Wednesday everyone! The sun has finally decided to come out and play, which makes a HUGE difference in my mood. Plus, it’s nice to take Harley for a walk and not be drenched by the time we get home.

Let’s talk about things I am loving this week:

  • that I did ‘Jackie’ as RX’d last night at CrossFit! The WOD is: 1000m row, 50 thrusters at 45lbs and 30 pull ups. It wasn’t a fast time, but so proud of myself for doing it!
  • Alison posted yesterday about a clothing website called Simons, which offers free shipping in Canada. I ended up ordering a dress and a bathing suit:

  • delicious dinners made by Mr.D! Last night we had pork tenderloin with cajun spice and roasted veggies with balsamic vinegar. Easy to do in the oven, yet so good!

Tell me: what are you loving this week?

Training Tuesday: what's next?

Sorry for the lack of posting yesterday {I know some missed reading my post in the morning...Erica! :) }, but I just wasn't feeling like blogging. It might have been the two hour nap I took on Sunday left me feeling all out of sorts. So worth it though!

Now that marathon training and day has come and gone, I am lacking motivation for my workouts. I went for a 10km run on Saturday, but my knee started to majorly bug me again. I finally decided to make an appointment on Thursday, so hopefully it gets sorted out quickly and the pain goes away. Until my knee heals, I am going to cut back on running. Even thinking about not running for a while, makes me want to cry. I didn't realize how much I loved running until it hurt to do so.

On a running related note, the only race that I am signed up for right now is the Colour Run 5k at the end of this month. I am doing it as a fun run with a bunch of friends and can't wait for it :) If all goes well with my knee and it heals quickly, I have my eye on a couple of races. I am looking at running Melissa's Race, Harvest Half or one of the half marathons through MEC (only $15...can't beat that!).

Until the knee heals, I've been doing lots of Insanity workouts. I haven't done them in a long time and I forgot how much they can make you sweat for an at home workout without weights!

Tell me: have you ever had issues with your knees? What kind of workouts are you doing lately?
